General Conference

I have always loved General Conference.

I watched it for the first time in October 2012 when I was 15, alone in my room.
I remember feeling the Spirit so intensely and wanting to feel that way all of the time.
The talks specifically remember from my first time are Ann M. Dibb’s “I know it. I live it. I love it” talk as well as Boyd K. Packer’s talk on The Atonement.

Me, watching conference alone in my dorm room...October 2015.
I watched Conference alone until Spring 2016 when I was able to watch it with Matt. In October 2016, we went to his family’s house in Memphis and had a wonderful conference weekend.
One of my favorite memories was his mom and I baking pumpkin bread and watching a chick-flick while the boys were at Priesthood. I hope that I can create many new memories like that in the years to come!

I was so excited for General Conference this time around, as it was my first time experiencing it as a member! I loved the General Women’s Session and adored this past weekend’s sessions. We went to Jared and Holly's house on Sunday to watch it and enjoyed delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and Scattegories between sessions.

Hearing from our leaders renewed my motivation to study my scriptures every single day and serve others more often. I am a busy college student, but I know that if I take time out of each day to study the scriptures, I will do better in all of my classes and feel more peaceful internally.

I feel like college students have a tendency of being self-centered, and I want to make sure I do not fall into this category. Therefore, I am going to make an effort to find service projects in my area, be kind and helpful to my friends, and serve my family often when I am home. I am writing these things down with the hope that it will keep me accountable!
